Why Women Rule in Affiliate Marketing

Traditional female behavior includes cooperation between parties, encouraging and cheering on all participants and supportive, helpful conduct. For those women engaged in Affiliate Marketing, those traditional behaviors and traits are exactly what is needed to be successful in this industry. After all, Affiliate Marketing is where the term "Frenemy*" applies to nearly everyone you do business with.

As a woman working in the crazy, high pressure, time-constrained world of Affiliate Marketing, I'm here to report that being female, even having feminine traits, like those mentioned above are the keys to career success. In my job as Senior Account Executive for a CPA (Cost Per Action) Affiliate Network, my number one responsibility is to land new accounts, new affiliates, and to get these affiliates to drive traffic to my offers.

Affiliates are not your employees, slaves or co-workers, so that means they must be handled differently – kindly and with respect. Affiliates are "At Will" partners; they work for me and my offers because they want to. Either they perceive that LinkValu has offers that will make them more money than someone else's or they like me best, or maybe both. Of the many Affiliate Managers that I work with on a daily basis, the most successful seem to be the professionals that don't forget that I'm a professional too. Being respectful, courteous, encouraging and offering help and assistance is what makes these professionals want to work with my offers.

Growing up my brothers always told me that I threw like a girl or I ran like a girl. Those were NOT compliments! Today, my co-workers might tell me that I pitch like a girl, and that would be a compliment – the pitch I make to potential affiliates and publishers comes out friendly, cooperatively and warmly. In my feminine manner my pitch to a prospective affiliate is meant to let them know that they won't just be a number here at LinValu that our team, men and women, will be willing to work with our partners respectfully and professionally.

So take heart, women in affiliate marketing! Your natural instincts are the keys to success in this industry. Keep smiling, being empathetic and helpful. The partnerships you make and retain are worth way more than the "mow down the competition" types will ever achieve.

*A "Frenemy" is a person or company that is both your competitor and your business partner.
